Dry Masala Chicken

This is a a very simple home food especially the one of those dishes that remind me of home πŸ™‚ Mumma always made this for me, she knows it so well that i am not much into the gravy items and am more fond of simple but tasty flavors. Every time i go home this dish no doubt will be always prepared ( without even mentioning ) along with my dal (pulse) and rice combo with a green chili + salt chutney fresh from the grinding machine ! Simplicity at its very best πŸ™‚

I have been homesick for few weeks now and so anything that makes you feel home ? the food ! Yes i prepared this with this idea and i did feel home πŸ™‚ well a little ! : P

Estimated Time : Approx 15 – 20 min

Ingredients :-

  • 500 gms of cleaned chicken
  • handful of coriander leaves chopped
  • 3 medium sized onions chopped very finely
  • 2 medium sized chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp turmeric
  • 2-3 tbsp of chicken/ meat masala
  • salt according to taste
  • 3 tbsp of ginger garlic paste
  • 3 tbsp of oil

The Process :-

  • Add the oil to the non stick pan and heat
  • Add the chicken. Add the salt. Mix well and cook it till the chicken is brown on all sides. Β Keep checking and moving it cause you don’t want to burn it. You will see the chicken starts oozing water initially, in some time it will dry up. Do not cover the pan and cook. The entire method involves the pan to be open all the time while cookingIMG_8001
  • Once its brown, add ginger garlic paste. Mix and cook for 2 minIMG_8002
  • Now add the onions. If you like it spicy add a dew chilies tooIMG_8003
  • Cook it till the onions are completely golden brown
  • Add the tomatoes. Followed by turmeric, chicken/ meat masala and salt (remember you have used salt earlier too while frying the chicken, so use accordingly ). Mix it well and cook it for about 5-7 minIMG_8004
  • Once done, just check the chicken. It should be cooked completely by now, in case it hasn’t then cook it for sometime. Once the chicken is cooked, add the coriander leavesIMG_8006
  • Cook for about a minute and you are done ! Serve it hot with dal( pulse) and rice combo or can even eat it just the way it is Β πŸ™‚IMG_8024
