Straight From The Restaurant : Mushroom Masala

Have you also tried enough but somehow never hit that exact taste of the same dish you had from the restaurant last night??  I did !! So i took over to make myself for the first time a dish that not only looked professional but also tasted exactly like one !!!


On The Plate : Mushroom Masala

Estimated Time : Approx 30 min

Ingredients :-

  • 3 tbsp of butter/ oil
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 chunks of cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp of cumin pwder
  • 2 tbsp of cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp of cumin podwer
  • 2 tbsp of coriander podwer
  • 2 tbsp of garam masala
  • 2 tbsp of ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp salt ( according to taste)
  • 3 tbsp of Kashmiri chilli podwer ( for colour they are not spicy)
  • 1 tbsp of sugar (just to balance the flavour)
  • 3 tbsp of thick fresh cream
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 3 onions
  • 250-300 gms of mushroom
  • 50 gms of cheese (can vary according to taste)
  • 50 gms of cashew

The Process :-

  • Heat the non-stick pan
  • Add the butter followed by the bay leaves, cinnamon and cumin seeds
  • Roast them for 3-4 seconds
  • Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for 2 min
  • Add roughly chopped onions, fry them till golden brown
  • Add roughly chopped tomatoes
  • Add the spices – turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, cashew and salt
  • Cook the mixture for about 4-5 min
  • Turn the heat off and put the mixture aside to cool for sometime
  • Once the mixture is cool enough, grind them in a mixer to get a smooth paste
  • Turn the gas on to medium flame and add the paste to it
  • Add the roughly chopped mushrooms (avoid chopping them too thin)
  • Add the cream, garam masala and sugar, mix it well and cook it with the lid on for 5 min (keep stirring at intervals to avoid burning)
  • Add half of the grated cheese just to make the gravy thick and stir for just 2-3 min
  • Switch off the heat, garnish it eith grated cheese and coriander leaves
  • Serve it hot!!
